Kraken Hire Ex-Canucks GM Allvin

The Seattle Kraken announced Thursday that they have added former Vancouver Canucks GM Patrik Allvin to their hockey operations staff as vice president and assistant general manager.

Allvin, 51, was the first ever Swedish GM in NHL history and helped run the Canucks for four-and-a-half seasons.

The Kraken also added former Columbus Blue Jackets head coach Pascal Vincent as an assistant coach. Vincent, 54, ran the Jackets bench for one season in 2023-’24 before spending the last two years as a head coach in the QMJHL major junior league.

“As we continue to review our hockey operations this off-season, I’m excited to have Patrik join the team,” said Kraken GM Jason Botterill in a prepared statement. “He’s a three-time Stanley Cup Champion, GM of the Year runner-up and someone I worked with closely for many years in Pittsburgh. I believe Patrik is a great fit to help us build long-term success, bringing an extensive hockey network and many years of leadership to our group.”

Allvin won Cups with the Penguins as a European scout in 2009 and as a scouting executive in 2016 and 2017.

Both men had somewhat brief junior and minor league hockey careers. Allvin also played pro back in his home country. Neither played in the NHL. Both began their respective careers, Vincent in coaching and Allvin in scouting, in the early 2000’s.

They also share the same haircut.
