It started with the Canucks …

Where’s Waldo?! Or in this case, where’s Whyno?!

Aside from blocking me on Twitter/X — I guess he doesn’t want to read stories about his ineptness — “Professional” Hockey Writers Association president Stephen Whyno has refused to answer very simple questions regarding why he disbarred me from membership.

We already know why previous president Frank Seravalli unscrupulously did it.

No answers to friendly, periodic e-mail queries, weeks or even months apart. No details, no evidence, no corroboration whatsoever to the Canucks claims I acted inappropriately or threatened someone.

Then again, it’s hard to back-up something that’s make believe. It’s easier to hide instead.

This horse manure is four years old! All started by a dishonest Canucks PR employee.

Dishonesty rules these days

Oh, how we miss the days of honestly and professional principals. Here’s a reminder of something right out of the historical timeline on the PHWA website.

“2010-11: Members of the New York Islanders, New York Rangers and New Jersey Devils chapters boycott voting for NHL Awards to protest the Islanders’ decision to revoke the credential of Islanders chapter member Chris Botta, who was writing for AOL Fanhouse.”

They should really take that down off the website. It’s an embarrassing reminder to the current board.

Meanwhile, could you imagine anyone in the Vancouver chapter standing up to dishonesty or a lack of fairness? Trevor Beggs got yanked out of the press box in the middle of a game near the end of this past season. That spurred a mild blip in the market.

Incestuous cowardice prevails in that market and PHWA chapter, and we won’t be holding our breath for anything to change.

Apparently fear of Canucks is a disease that’s spread far and wide.

As for the current national board; put on your big boy and big girl pants and give us an explanation.

After a friendly request for a simple answer at the beginning of May, I sent this follow-up on May 13th and included board president Whyno, the VP and my local NHL team PR rep’.

No response Stephen?? It’s been a fortnight. I enjoyed the AP’s press freedom week last month. Among the many principles: uphold the right to freedom of expression and access and advocate for the ability of journalists to operate freely and safely.

Similar to the PHWA mission statement: “dedicated to preserving the rights and improving the access for members of the North American-based media who cover hockey.”

Seems like ironic and comical standards given your position.

Any answers? Would take you about ten minutes to resolve everything, if you’re actually interested.

It’s absolutely amazing after all of this time that no one is willing or able to tell me what I did wrong. One could see how I’d be concerned about just how much those Canucks lies have grown.
