Workmanlike Canucks Come Back To Win 5-3 In Dallas

They never flinched. Falling behind 2-0 in the 1st period to the Dallas Stars, the Canucks stuck to their game plan, took advantage of opportunities when presented, and skated away with a 5-3 road victory against a Western Conference favourite.

Vancouver jumped on top starting with a Filip Chytil breakaway goal at the 6:40 mark of the 2nd period. Three minutes and 46-seconds later, after Brock Boeser scored on a power play tip-in and Max Sasson scored on a breakaway of his own, the Canucks took the lead for good.

Vancouver goalie Thatcher Demko finished with 28 saves. Captain Quinn Hughes added an empty net goal to an earlier assist, Elias Pettersson chipped in a power play helper, while winger Conor Garland and D-man Filip Hronek both finished with two points.

“Petey” started the game by accidentally deflecting a shot past Demko in the 1st period to open the scoring. He steadily improved from there but still only has two assists on the season.
