On opening night, Seattle Kraken defenseman Vince Dunn missed out on NHL history by 32 seconds. Dunn scored the 2nd Seattle goal of the season on Oct. 1 in Calgary, and later added two assists in a 6-1 victory over the Flames. A half-minute earlier, teammate Jordan Eberle had opened the scoring.
Had Dunn tallied first, he would have been the only blueliner in NHL history to score the first goal of the season for his team in three consecutive years.
Even so, by lighting the lamp in his third straight season-opener, Dunn joined an exclusive list. Other D-men who have scored in three consecutive openers: Al MacInnis, Rasmus Andersson, Garry Galley, Sandis Ozolins, Larry Robinson and Ray Bourque.
MacInnis is the sole blueliner to do it more than three times, scoring in the season-opener five years straight between 1987-1991. The team he did it for is the same one Dunn did it against, the Calgary Flames.
Trio Of Former Kraken Return Nov. 7

When the New York Rangers come to Climate Pledge Arena on Sat., Nov. 7, they’ll arrive with a trio of forwards who used to call Seattle home. Tye Karte was claimed off waivers by the Blueshirts, while Oliver Bjorkstrand (last with Tampa Bay) and Eeli Tolvanen signed as free agents.
No one offered Tolvanen the salary or term he wanted, so the Finnish forward spent an uncomfortable summer back in his homeland before signing a one year, $1.5 million deal in New York.
“A pretty long August before I signed,” Tolvanen told the New York Post. “It was definitely different. You didn’t know where you’re going to end up. What are you going to do with your stuff? I had my stuff in Seattle. You’re waiting in Finland. You need a visa to get here and all that.
“It was a little stressing. Other than that, it’s part of the job. Sometimes, you have to wait for a little longer. I’m happy that I ended up here.”
Popular For Wedding Dresses & Kraken Uniforms

When the Kraken unveil their “Hometown Remix” uniform later this season, it will be the cream of the NHL crop. Literally.
“The Kraken teased their Hometown Remix in a subtle way with a season ticket member gift, Icethetics said in a video. “This design was revealed in June and relies not just on their deep-sea blue, but also ivory-colored details.
“By way of color confirmation, a source shared numbers and lettering intended for Seattle’s Hometown Remix uniforms.”
