My apologies to those who follow the trivia question and answer in the occasional “Simmer’s 9”. I screwed the pooch on this one. Missed the boat. Fanned on a half empty net.
Yes, Daccord and Fleury were both Kraken NHL expansion draft acquisitions and obviously both remain active with the organization at the NHL level.
The likely cause of the blip: Daccord played just five games that first season and five more the next, as he was the main man with the AHL’s Coachella Valley Firebirds. Fleury also spent most of his time in California, playing nine, 12, and then one NHL game in his first three Seattle seasons respectively.

Their mere existence runs the remaining “original Kraken” total to seven.
Those two, plus Jared McCann, Jordan Eberle, Adam Larsson, Vince Dunn and Daccord’s fellow goalie Philipp Grubauer.
All that said, with humility intact, here’s how long that “original” status could last.
Daccord – G – age 29 – entering the second year of a five-year contract worth $5-million per season.
Fleury – RHD – age 27 – entering the final year of a two-year deal worth $890,000 this season.
McCann – C, LW – age 30 – entering the final year of a five-year deal worth $5-million this season.
Eberle – RW – age 36 – starting a two-year deal worth $5.5-million per season. Captain.
Larsson – RHD – age 33 – entering the second year of a four-year deal worth $5.25-million per season.
Dunn – LHD – age 29 – entering final year of a four-year deal that pays him $7.35-million this season.
Grubauer – G – age 33 – entering the final year of a six-year deal that will pay him $5.9-million
Looks like there could be a couple/few more originals dropping off the list over the next 24 months. We’ll be sure to keep better track. Thanks Tim!
