No Complaints About A Fun Kraken OT Loss

Canadiens 5, Kraken 4 – OT

Hey, it’s the Bell Centre; stuff happens.

It’s consistently the best building to watch a game in the National Hockey League and on Tuesday night the Kraken and Habs took a dandy all the way to overtime.

Cole Caufield scored his second goal of the night and third of the season at 3:25 of OT to give the Canadiens a 5-4 win.

Five goals given up by Seattle goalie Joey Daccord?! Well guess what, except for maybe the last one, when he got caught cheating off his post in anticipation of a pass down low, the Kraken’s number-one netminder didn’t have a chance on any of the Montreal goals.

Crazy bounces were happening at both ends, just ask Habs goalie Samuel Montembeault. Pucks went in off thighs, skates, and more skates.

There were also great plays. Like Shane Wright’s cross-crease pass to Jaden Schwartz to tie the game 1-1 on the power play early in the 2nd period. Or Ivan Demidov’s slick move to tie the game for the Canadiens 4-4 late in the 3rd period after the Kraken had finally taken the lead on a Jared McCann snipe.

It was just fun, wild, early season hockey. And it’s not uncommon in October every year.

Before all the NHL teams settle into their 82-game schedules and the coaching takes over, the fresh legs and pond hockey tendencies rule the day.

There were turnovers by both clubs and crazy bounces everywhere.

Enjoy the fun while it lasts. Meanwhile, the Kraken have started the season 2-0-and-1 with five more games remaining on their road trip.
