Canucks Back-to-back
Following Saturday night’s 4-3 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets, the Vancouver Canucks finished their back-to-back weekend home set with a 5-4 overtime loss to the Colorado Avalanche.
The three-point weekend improved their record to 8-8-and-1 on the season.
Vancouver had been a perfect 4-and-0 in post-regulation efforts before Sunday night, while the Av’s had been 0-and-5. Rookie forward Gavin Brindley tucked his own rebound through the legs of Canucks goalie Kevin Lankinen for the game winner at the 1:08 mark of OT.
Colorado center Nathan MacKinnon had a four-point night.
On Saturday night, Canucks winger Brock Boeser scored the game winner in a see-saw affair at the 14:15 mark of the 3rd period. He made a winner of his goalie Lankinen, who started both games due to the absence and injury concerns for the club’s number-one netminder Thatcher Demko.
Vancouver’s big left winger Drew O’Connor had a goal in each game and finished the weekend with three points. Winger Jake DeBrusk also had a goal in each match.
Vancouver hosts the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday night before embarking on a three-game eastern road trip.
