Saturday afternoon in Abbotsford, BC, the Seattle Kraken prospects beat their rivals from the Vancouver Canucks 7-3. The franchise from Washington held the lead for much of the night and ran away with things in the 3rd period.
Goal scorers for the Kraken included Andrei Loshko with two, Justin Janicke with two, including a first period breakaway that opened the scoring, defenseman Caden Price with one, D-man Finn Kearns with one, and David Goyette with the finale.
Seattle led 1-0 after the 1st period and 4-3 after 40 minutes.
Defenseman Kearns also had a lengthy 2nd period fight with fellow blueliner Joe Arntsen of the Canucks. (photo)
Abbotsford Canucks (AHL) and prospect match-up head coach Ryan Papaioannou summed up the proceedings to his club’s website this way:
“Systematically, pretty sloppy, which is expected. I think competitively, we had to be happy with the group,” Papaioannou stated. “It got away from them in the third a little bit, but I think individually, when we look at some of the performances, I thought there was some bright spots, and overall, what it does for us is gives us some things to watch tomorrow morning, and hopefully prepare these guys for tomorrow.”
Meanwhile, the Seattle coaches and players will be hoping to take two.
