Kraken Beat Sharks 4-2

Recently, 3rd periods have been ugly for the Seattle Kraken. On Saturday night in San Jose, the trend reversed.

This Seattle club had to be sick of being forced to pull their goalie and skate 6-on-5 late in hockey games after falling behind. It’s seemed to be happening over and over and over again, with little to show for it.

Against the Sharks, Seattle snapped the routine. After going down 2-1 in the first minute of the third period, the Kraken fought their way back to score three unanswered goals, including an empty-netter, to win 4-2.

Seattle netminder Joey Daccord made 35 saves for the win, a victory that snaps the team’s four game losing streak.

It’s still been an gnarly month; Seattle’s record in December moves to just two wins against seven losses.

The Sharks sit in the second wild card spot in the Western Conference. With the head-to-head victory, Seattle moves to within five points of that spot with three games in hand. The Kraken are tied with the Vegas Golden Knights for the fewest games played this season in the NHL, 33, and have multiple games in hand on most of the west.

Forwards Eeli Tolvanen and Chandler Stephenson both had two point nights for the winners. Both Ryker Evans and Ryan Lindgren scored from the blueline. It was Evans’s third goal of the season and Lindgren’s first.

Seattle continues its road trip on Monday night in Anaheim against the Ducks.
