The Seattle Kraken open the 2025-’26 season on October 9th at home against the division rival Anaheim Ducks. An even stronger Pacific foe appears two nights later when the Vegas Golden Knights come calling.
Wouldn’t it be nice to get off to a great start against those two, considering the Kraken finished just .500 at Climate Pledge Arena last season, at 18-18-and-5.
Also important considering the following six Seattle games in October are on the road.
It’s not a trip that can ‘make’ you, but it’s definitely one that can break you. The Kraken visit the Montreal Canadiens, Ottawa Senators, Toronto Maple Leafs, Philadelphia Flyers, Washington Capitals, and the Winnipeg Jets over a nine-day period.
The simple request from the Emerald City locals: Don’t come home buried.
Seattle has a little opportunity in early November to get the home cooking stirred up with six games at CPA over an eight game stretch. The opponents are a mixed bag of east and west.
December starts out in similar fashion with five of six at home. The dreaded Edmonton Oilers being the one road match on the 4th of the month.
All NHL teams have a condensed schedule this upcoming season because of the two-week February break for the Winter Olympics in Italy. The cramming of games is most noticeable for the Kraken in January when they see 17 matches over 31 days. They never have more than a single day off in-between games and the month also features three back-to-back sets.
Six of the last seven are at home.
February sees just five Kraken games. Only one of them, on the 28th against the Vancouver Canucks, is in Seattle.
March is a mixed bag, followed by a doozy of an April with all Western Conference match-ups. That’s when any close races for playoff spots get decided.
The Kraken finish up with a back-to-back set starting on April 15th against the Vegas Golden Knights and then the Colorado Avalanche. Both games are on the road.
Yikes!
Maybe the Golden Knights and Avalanche will already be in the playoffs and resting their best players. Maybe the Kraken will already be a postseason club as well.
Or maybe not.
That’s why they play the games on ice, not on paper.
