The Seattle Torrent find themselves tied for 4th place in the eight-team Women’s Professional Hockey League through the first fifth of the season. Each team plays 30 games and the Torrent stand with a 3-2-and-1 record.
The club pulled off its second 2-to-1 come from behind victory of the season on Tuesday night at Climate Pledge Arena against the Montreal Victoire. Down a goal, Alex Carpenter tallied her fourth goal of the season at 3:32 of the second period to even things up with Julia Gosling scoring the game-winner at 3:23 of the third.
10,276 fans were on hand to take in the exciting conclusion.
The big story was Seattle’s rookie netminder Hannah Murphy, who stopped 38 shots for the win. She’s been in net for all three of the Torrent’s victories this season and has a ridonkulous goals against average of 1.00 and a save percentage of .966 thus far.
Coming out of the Christmas break the team will head to Dallas to help spread interest in the WPHL. They’ll take on the last place New York Sirens in a neutral site game that’s part of the league’s Takeover Tour. Puck drop is slated for 5 pm on Sunday in Dallas.
