Seattle Kraken captain Jordan Eberle is a 17-year NHL veteran, the last six in Seattle. A 1st round pick of the Edmonton Oilers in 2008, he played seven seasons for Edmonton and four more with the N.Y. Islanders before being selected by the Kraken in the 2021 expansion draft.
Eberle has played 1,156 regular season NHL games, and 76 more in the playoffs. Among his memorable Kraken moments:
- Scored the OT Game 4 winner in a 2023 playoff series against the Colorado Avalanche.
- Played his 1,000th NHL game against Vegas on Mar. 12, 2024.
- Named captain on Oct. 8, 2024
Jordan says he knew all about Seattle through its sports teams from the time he was a kid.
Kraken Captain’s Seahawks Connection
“(Seattle) really is a sports city, which I love. You get a chance to play in front of a crowd. Even before I came here, I’ve been a Seahawks fan, and I knew the passion that they had, not just for the Seahawks, but for the Mariners. And they brought it into the Kraken, too.
“I was a Seahawks fan going back to like the Matt Hasselbeck, Shaun Alexander days. A lot of Western Canadians, that’s the closest NFL team. I grew up in Saskatchewan. The Seahawks were kind of Western Canada’s team. I remember their punter, Jon Ryan, was from Regina.
“I went to the NFC championship last year, which was pretty awesome. We actually played that day in the morning, and then we ran to the game after. Them winning the Super Bowl last year was pretty awesome. We got a chance to go to their practice facility and meet some of the guys and check out how they work.
Kraken players met Seahawks coach Mike MacDonald before the start of the 2026-27 NHL season.. We got a chance to chat with him. I actually met him a few times before. We used the same barber. Everyone watched ‘Hard Knocks’ this season.”
