The Seattle Kraken haven’t yet said if, or for how long, defenseman Brandon Montour might be sidelined. He left Thursday’s overtime loss in Tampa Bay with what the team described only as a “lower body” injury. The Kraken have recalled Ty Nelson from AHL Coachella Valley as insurance.
What we do know is that Montour will definitely be playing a game Monday night that will be shown across Canada.
Not hockey. Plinko.

The Kraken blueliner is one of four current NHL players who will be shown on an episode of “The Price Is Right Tonight,” a once-a-week Canadian version of the long-running TV game show.
The episode with Montour, Matthew Schaefer of the Islanders, Tom Wilson of the Capitals, and Jake Walman of the Oilers was taped in Toronto in June. Retired Maple Leafs great Wendel Clark also participated.
Kraken Defenseman Looked Confident In Plinko Abilities

Before the taping, the Toronto Sun caught up with Montour. “As for favourite games, the NHLers all seemed to love Plinko, but only Montour was getting to play it with a partner. He was teased whether analytics would factor in the location of his chip placement to start. ‘I might have to look at old clips, see where the plinks have been dropping,’ he agreed.”
Wilson said he watched the show as a kid when he was home sick from school. “It was before iPads, YouTube. ‘The Price Is Right’ is what I had going on. I just like to hang in to the very end and see the new car and the trips they won. It was pretty exciting. Hopefully people like the hockey theme.”
Y’know, if the show had really been on the ball, they would have invited Kraken forward Shane Wright and a certain former Canadiens Hall of Fame goalie, and called the episode, “The Carey Price Is Wright.”

Montour Dishes On Players Seeking Trades
The Sun used their opportunity to ask Montour about the evolution of players switching teams. Dylan Larkin of the Detroit Red Wings and Connor Hellebuyck of the Winnipeg Jets are prominent players who have requested trades.
“Players have their rights and teams are always finding their ways to get rid of you or keep you. I’m sure they’ll come up with a conclusion, but at this point players are pushing the needle.

“It seems the players being asked to move or trying to move, have been out of the playoffs a number of years. That gets draining. I’ve been on both sides, I’ve won (a Cup with Florida) and been on bad teams that haven’t made it (four years with Buffalo, two with Seattle). All you want is a chance to get in playoffs and win a Stanley Cup.”
