Kraken, Bobby McMann

Kraken Sign Bobby McMann To A 6-Year Deal

Ending speculation as to whether forward Bobby McMann would sign with Seattle or hit free agency on July 1st, the Kraken announced a new contract for the 30-year-old winger on Sunday.

It’s a six-year deal featuring an annual salary cap hit of $5.75-million dollars.

“Re-signing Bobby was a priority this summer,” Seattle GM Jason Botterill stated. “He made an immediate impact in our line-up with his size, speed and goal scoring. There’s a lot to love about his game. We’re thrilled he wants to call Seattle home for years to come.”

McMann cashes in after flourishing with the change of scenery that occurred on March 6th when the Toronto Maple Leafs unloaded him for a Seattle 4th-round NHL Draft pick in 2026 and a conditional 2nd-rounder in 2027. “Unload” used in this case because the player was simply caught in a numbers game with the Maple Leafs. He showed signs of scoring prowess at times, but also disappeared for other stretches, all while languishing down low, or completely out of, the big club’s line-up that featured multiple star power up front.

The Kraken were happy to gobble him up and McMann made the most of it. He took just 16 games to score 10 goals with the club, easily a franchise record for scoring efficiency. He’d finish the season with that number of snipes while adding four assists over a total of 18 games.

Part of the outburst; McMann scored two goals and added an assist in his Seattle debut against the Vancouver Canucks on March 14th and then added a goal and an assist the next night against the Florida Panthers. He’d add yet another goal two nights later against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

His cap hit and salary are evenly distributed over the six year term. The contract does not appear to include any no-trade or no movement clauses.
